New West Village Urgent Care Center to Help Fill Void of St. Vincent’s Hospital
Across the United States, the demand for primary and urgent care has grown. Nowhere is this more evident than in the West Village of Manhattan and its surrounding communities. With the recent shut down of St. Vincent’s Hospital, the community is eager to find a new medical facility that will provide a broad range of outpatient services including urgent care. A high quality urgent care facility is essential to ensure proper treatment for non-life threatening illnesses or injuries that affect the people who live and work in lower Manhattan. Getting an immediate health care appointment can take time, and many people do not even have access to a health care provider. Fortunately, help is around the corner.
New York Doctors Urgent Care will be opening its doors to the public on September 1st, 2010. This new state-of-the-art medical facility will be conveniently located at 65 West 13th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues. The doctors and staff at New York Doctors Urgent Care will help fill the gap in medical care that has been left by the closing of St. Vincent’s Hospital.
New York Doctors Urgent Care will help alleviate some of the burden now being placed on other medical providers in the area by offering immediate and accessible health care to community residents and employees during this crucial time of need. The services provided by this facility will help patients avoid extensive travel time to out-of-area hospitals and needless long waits in existing Manhattan emergency rooms. Importantly, no appointment is necessary and wait times are minimal. The average wait time at New York Doctors Urgent Care’s affiliated locations is under 15 minutes and the average door to discharge time is less than 45 minutes. The center is a brand new, state-of-the-art facility that will offer high quality and affordable health care in a relaxing and comfortable atmosphere that New Yorkers will appreciate.
The team at New York Doctors Urgent Care understands the need for immediate health care in the community. Now that St. Vincent’s emergency department is closed, there is an opportunity to provide high quality medical treatment for people affected by non-life threatening illnesses or injuries at a more affordable cost. In fact, by choosing an urgent care center over the emergency department, together we all could save millions of healthcare dollars. The cost of an urgent care visit is between 1/6th and 1/8th the cost of an emergency department visit.
The facility is staffed by local physicians who are residents of the community. Equipped with high tech X-Ray and lab equipment, EKG, Audiometry and Spirometry machines, New York Doctors Urgent Care is prepared to provide quality medical care for the most common ailments including:
- Colds, Coughs & Flu
- Sore Throats
- Earaches
- Cuts, Abrasions & Lacerations
- Fractures, Strains & Sprains
- Burns
- Bruises
- Upset Stomach & Vomiting
- Allergic Reactions
- Asthma
- Insect Bites & Rashes
Other services include physicals, drug screening, vaccinations, and occupational medicine.
New York Doctors Urgent Care is founded by Emergency Medicine physicians who have practiced clinically in emergency departments for over 20 years. Experienced in both the administrative and clinical aspects of Emergency Medicine, the developers of this urgent care center have the management skills to run a successful medical practice providing compassionate quality care that patients expect and deserve. Currently, there are four northeastern centers in operation, with five more planned.
For the convenience of its patients, the center will be open 7 days a week with extended hours. No appointment is necessary. New York Doctors Urgent Care accepts most insurance including Worker’s Compensation and Medicare. If a patient does not have health insurance, the urgent care center has arranged a reasonable non-insured rate so that all people will have access to quality health care. Once open, the staff at New York Doctors Urgent Care invites you to take a tour of the facility. Lastly, keep in mind that urgent care centers are not for life threatening illnesses or injuries. If you are experiencing an emergency, call 911 or head directly to your nearest emergency department.
